Irakli - Tourist Information

Irakli beach is situated 4 kilometres from the village of Banya, hidden between the Black Sea resorts of Obzor (to the north) and Nessebar (to the south). Irakli is one of the last "wild" beaches on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, where you can find an unspoilt sandy beach, clean water and beautiful rocks. Close to Irakli beach there was an ancient village with the same name. This was inhabited in ancient times by Greek settlers who later left Irakli and settled with the Bulgarians in Obzor. Irakli has not yet been included in the "Natura 2000" scheme, despite local and international expectations. There have been protests by nature-loving Bulgarians who are demanding that the reserve be added to the list of protected areas.
