Kranevo - Tourist Information

Kranevo is a small and, as yet, relatively undeveloped sea-side resort on the northern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. This attractive and friendly little town sits between the larger, and busier, resorts of Golden Sands and Albena. Kranevo is a favourite resort with Bulgarian holidaymakers and is also used as a weekend retreat by the more affluent residents of the nearby city of Varna.

Unlike its neighbouring resorts, Kranevo has so far been neglected by international tourists and large-scale developers. It is hard to see why this quaint and rustic location has been overlooked, but it seems very unlikely that this situation will continue for much longer. Kranevo has a beautiful beach which is covered in soft, pale sand. The water is clear and warm and the views across the beach to Albena are magnificent. The beach is very accessible and is suitable for both young and old.

There is a good selection of restaurants and bars at Kranevo, including some excellent sea-front restaurants that serve fresh fish and local produce. There are plenty of shops which sell the usual holiday mementos and there are several supermarkets. You will be made very welcome at the friendly, family-run hotels and guest houses, and at the holiday camp which is located just a short walk from the beach. Although Kranevo has less facilities than Golden Sands or Albena, there is still plenty to keep you occupied, and the prices are much lower.

There is a small park, which is quite well-maintained and includes a children's playground. In fact, Kranevo is well-known as a children's resort and includes a national children's complex.

Kranevo is built on the site of an ancient Roman fortress. Traces of the Roman fortress have been found on a hilltop, just outside the town.
