Palazzo Gradina is in the part of Balchik that is known as the "Quiet Place", close to the Botanical Gardens and the Palace of Queen Maria.

There are three championship-level golf courses within a few minutes' drive of Palazzo Gradina. The Botanical Gardens opened in 1955, in the grounds of the former summer residence of Queen Maria of Romania. These beautiful gardens comprise 6.5 hectares of park land with plants from all over the world. There are approximately 2,000 different species. One of the major attractions is the collection of huge cacti. The gardens are the second largest of this kind in Europe, second only to the royal palace gardens in Monaco.
