Aheloy is a small coastal town on the main road between Nessebar and Burgas. Its position between these more popular towns means that it is often overlooked by tourists and sight-seers who usually pass it by on the way to somewhere else. But a closer look at Aheloy reveals a charming little town with a pretty, well-kept park and several impressive churches. There are several shops on the busy main road and a few more cafes, shops and restaurants can be found if you venture off into the town itself. The park has a children's area with slides and swings, plenty of park seats, a war memorial and tree lined paths that you can stroll through in the summer to escape the heat of the day. There is also a plaque which describes (in English) a famous battle in which Tsar Simeon I of Bulgaria defeated the massed armies of the Byzantine empire. Further information
