The lovely resort of Albena is situated between Golden Sands and the historic town of Balchik. It is one of Bulgaria's most luxurious coastal resorts and is very popular with foreign tourists, particularly those from Russia and Germany. Albena is a family resort, with fun and entertainment for all ages. The sand is fine, soft and pale and the sea water is clear and warm.
Albena is a purpose-built resort which received its first tourists in August 1969. Many of the hotels in the resort are next to the beach, whilst others are dotted around the resort amongst the formal gardens, forest paths and holiday attractions. The main tourist season is from the end of May until the end of September, but during April and October it is popular with mature visitors who love the manicured lawns and beautiful flower beds and the way that the forest stretches right down to the beach.
During the high season, Albena attracts families and young people who are looking for a top-quality seaside resort with excellent sports and leisure facilities. Albena is particularly popular with tourists who enjoy water sports such jet skiing, yachting, surfing, diving, swimming and para-sailing. On land the resort offers activities such as tennis, mini golf, bowling, volleyball, horse riding and many others. There are plenty of things on offer for young children, including children's clubs, animators, carousels, inflatable slides, bouncy castles and special children's discos.
The beach resort is part of the huge Albena National Park, which also includes large areas of woodland that cover the hillside. The national park offers some of the most stunning views in the whole of Bulgaria, with lush green fields, pine and deciduous forests and amazing panoramic vistas of the bay of Albena.
In addition to its lovely beach and beautiful scenery, Albena is well known for its spa treatments. Tourists come to bathe in the warm mineral waters and to receive holistic treatments such as hydrotherapy, thalassotherapy, phytotherapy, reflexology, aromatherapy and shiatsu.
