The seaside town of Kiten is part of Primorsko municipality. It is located on the southern part of the Black Sea coast, between the towns of Primorsko and Tsarevo. It is served by Burgas International Airport.
Kiten dates back to the early 1930s, when fugitives from Greece, and immigrants from the surrounding villages, decided to build their a town there. The river Kiten, which has many fish such as grey mullet, carp and barbel was an attractive source of food for them. Today, it is still a favourite location for fishing.
Kiten has been an important holiday destination since 1970 and it is now a prosperous and modern holiday resort. During the summer months, more than 70,000 tourists visit Kiten each week. It offers cosy restaurants, friendly family-run hotels and camping sites, as well as bars, discos, an amusement park and water slides. The southern beach, which borders the river Kiten, has a yachting port and offers a range of water sports. The quieter north beach is an extremely beautiful sheltered bay which is ideal for families. It has soft, golden sand and is always calm with only a gentle breeze.
