The town of Lovech is situated in the northern part of central Bulgaria, around 166 km north-east of Sofia, and is one of the oldest and most interesting towns in the country. Lovech is famous for its old covered bridge (the only one in Bulgaria) which stretches across the Osam river. The countryside around Lovech is forested and has many medieval ruins to explore.
