Shkorpilovtsi Tourist Information

The seaside village of Shkorpilovtsi is about 40 kilometres to the south from Varna with its airport. The village was named after two Czech brothers, Shkorpil, because of their contribution to the development of Bulgarian archeology in the late 19th century.

Shkorpilovtsi has a beautiful beach, with fine white sand. The beach is eight kilometers long, with sand dunes. At present, the resort is mostly visited by Bulgarian families, but there are plans to build a major new resort here. There are already a number of hotels and a camp site. The nearby village has an open-air cinema and several pubs and small restaurants.

The sand strip in Shkorpilovtsi is 13 kilometres long. It is the longest and the widest sand strip along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. In this ecologically clean region, beautiful sandy beaches blend into the woods.

The Funduklijska River flows right next to Shkorpilovtsi beach and to the bridge, which is a great place to watch the wonderful sunsets. The area along the river is rich in mineral waters, which brings opportunities for development of a spa resort.

Shkorpilovtsi Scientific Research Institute is situated near the beach. The institute conducts scientific studies along the coast.
