Sozopol is an ancient town on the southern end of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. A stroll along the cobbled streets will reveal a wealth of charming fisherman's cottages snuggled up to the water's edge, where bright blue boats can be found tethered to the shore. The town was founded way back in the mists of history, when the Greeks built Sozopol (then called Apolonia Magna) as an important trading post for their dealings further up the coast. Sozopol has since become a rich and important cultural centre and has recently acquired a wealth of elegant restaurants, hotels and bars.
