The city of Stara Zagora is well known for its many archaeological sites. The Bereketska Mound is the largest historical settlement in Bulgaria, dating back 8,000 years. A pair of Neolithic dwellings sit next to the city's hospital whilst the Augusta Tayana Roman ruins can be found within the city centre.
Stara Zagora is also home to numerous other attractions, including museums and zoos together with a wonderfull Opera House.
