The town of Targovishte is situated in the northern central region of Bulgaria and is celebrated as a very fine wine growing region. At the foot of mount Preslav, and stradling the banks of the Vrana River, Targovishte has been a focal point for artisans and traders for many centuries and was designated a 'cultural centre' when the remains of an ancient Roman town were unearthed in 2000.
Today, Targovishte is noted for its Bulgarian Orthodox churches, together with its drama theatre and, of course, its excellent wines. It may be a town worth visiting, but you might want to think twice about living there. There is a large number of factories and other industrial facilities which take away any of the 'wow factor' that Targovishte may otherwise have possessed. There are, however, many tax incentives on offer which might tempt businesses to the area, especially when you consider its ideal, mid-way location between Varna, Sofia and Romania.
